Volunteers of the Year honored at November 2006 Chapter Meeting

Chapter Members Ed Nicholson and Eivind Forseth were selected by the Board of Directors to be honored as Chapter Volunteers of the Year for 2006, for their outstanding work and dedication to Project Healing Waters (PHW).

At our November Chapter Meeting, just before a presentation by featured speaker Capt. Mike Starrett (see related story below), Ed and Eivind gave a short presentation on Project Healing Waters, its inception, activities, and future. PHW is a joint activity of NCC-TU and the Federation of Fly Fishers Mid-Atlantic Council.

PHW works closely with rehabilitation staff at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to offer wounded military personnel opportunities to learn, or enhance, fly fishing and fly tying skills, as an integral part of the physical therapy regime. PHW also provides opportunities to use and enjoy those skills on fishing outings.

Ed and Eivind were each presented with a classic wet fly in a presentation box, as a token of the Chapter's gratitude. Congratulations to both Ed and Eivind, and keep up the good work!
