September 2006

The National Capital Chapter - TU is gearing up for the commencement of its monthly Chapter Meetings. We will kick off the 2006 - 2007 year on October 11th, when Theaux LeGardeur will speak to us on "Big Gunpowder Falls: The Best Tailwater in the Mid-Atlantic?". We have an interesting slate of speakers covering a wide range of topics from fishing for searun brown trout in Argentina to angling for largemouth on local waters.

   Our other speakers will include:

  • November 8th, Mike Starrett of Indian Head Charters, on "Largemouth Bass: Mattowoman Creek And Vicinity." (And watch out for those snakeheads!)

  • January 10th, Fly Tying Night, with various ace chapter tyers demonstrating their craft (Scott Faley's secret recipes to be disclosed!)

  • March 14th, Brian Shumaker, of Susquehanna River Guides, on Smallmouth Bass in the Susquehanna.

  • April 11th, Tim Shaw will speak on "Sea Run Brown Trout of the Rio Grande, Argentina."

  • May 9th, Jim Travis, on "Saltwater Opportunities in Massachusetts: Bonita, Albacore, Stripers, Blues, Tuna, et al."

Come join us! You do not need to be an NCC-TU member to attend. Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month from October through May (except December and March) at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Services Center located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda. Click here for directions. A social hour at 7:15 p.m. precedes the chapter meeting which starts at 8:00 p.m.
