Special Pre-Show Casting Clinic

1:30-4:00p – CASTING CLINIC
with ED JAWOROWSKI and DAVE ROTHROCK.
Widely recognized professional casting instructor, Ed Jaworowski, author of award-winning casting books, The Cast and Troubleshooting the Cast, is, according to Lefty Kreh, “the best teacher of fly casting I have ever known.” Dave Rothrock, of Salmo-Trutta Fly Fishing School of Pennsylvania and Austria, was on the first place casting team in the Northeastern Qualifier of the 2004 National Fly Fishing Masters Tournament.

This 2.5 hour small group casting clinic with personal instruction will be an extended opportunity to improve fundamentals and specialty techniques, and is held in Candy Cane City Playground in Rock Creek Park near East-West Highway and Beach Drive (7901 Meadowview Lane, Chevy Chase, MD). Bring your own rod, reel, and line.

FLY CASTING CLINICS: One-hour small group fly-casting clinics with personal instruction will be offered indoors at the show on the half-hour from 9:30a until 4:30p. Clinics will include sessions for Beginners, Kids, Women, Parent & Child, and Distance Casting. (See Scheduled Events below for specific times.) The fee for adults is $35 and for kids under 17, $25. All Scheduled Casting Events
9:00-10:30a – SPECIAL FLY CASTING MASTER CLASS with ED JAWOROWSKI: “Casting Fundamentals.” This is a 1.5-hour small group master class with personal instruction by internationally recognized expert fly casting instructor and author, Ed Jaworowski. The session will be indoors. Bring your own casting outfit. The number of class participants will be limited to six students. Fee $50; advance registration and payment required. 9:30-10:30a – FLY CASTING CLINIC: “Casting for Women” with Instructor KIKI GALVIN. Women will enjoy an hour of personal instruction from of one of the area’s top professional female anglers. Galvin owns Ms. Guided Fly Fishing, a guide service in the Washington, DC region. Fee $35; advance registration recommended. 10:30-11:30a – FLY CASTING CLINIC: “Parent / Child Casting” with Instructor TOM SADLER. Here’s a chance for parents to learn fly-casting with their kids from Tom Sadler, a lifelong fisherman, conservationist, and instructor. He’s a FFF Certified Instructor who has studied fly casting with Joan Wulff. Fee $35 (includes as many kids as you have!); advance registration recommended. 12:30-1:00p – FREE FLY CASTING DEMONSTRATION: “Casting With Ease: Too Much Effort Equals Too Little Cast” with DAVE ROTHROCK.

12:30-1:30p - FLY CASTING CLINIC: “Casting for Beginners” with Instructor DUSTY WISSMATH: One hour of personal instruction from FFF Certified Casting Instructor, Dusty Wissmath, proprietor of the Dusty Wissmath Flyfishing School at Whitetail Resort, and instructor at the L.L. Bean Fly Fishing School in Virginia and the Wulff School of Fly Fishing in New York. Fee $35; advance registration recommended. 1:30-2:30p – FLY CASTING CLINIC: “Casting for Distance” with Instructor DAVE ROTHROCK. One hour of personal instruction from Dave Rothrock who is one of Central Pennsylvania’s top trout guides and instructors. This clinic is geared for the intermediate to advanced fly-caster. 1:45-2:30p – FREE FLY CASTING DEMONSTRATION: “The Most Common Casting Faults” with ED JAWOROWSKI: A casting lesson for every fly fisher, regardless of your knowledge or experience, by the teacher Lefty Kreh calls “the best casting instructor I’ve ever seen.” Ed will demonstrate and talk you through the fundamental DOs and DON’Ts of effective casting to help you place your fly right where you want it to go. Practical knowledge we can all use.

2:30-3:30p – FLY CASTING CLINIC: “Casting for Kids” with Instructor DUNCAN McGRATH. One hour of personal instruction from Duncan McGrath who is well known at Fletcher’s Boat House as one of the top fly-anglers. He generously shares his enthusiasm for fishing with kids. 3:30-4:00p – FREE FLY CASTING DEMONSTRATION: “Fly Casting Basics” with DUSTY WISSMATH. This demonstration by a master caster covers the basic essentials of the fly cast, as well as lots of helpful hints to make you a better fly-caster.

4:30-5:50p – FLY CASTING CLINIC: for Project Healing Waters participants with All Show Instructors. This one hour and 20 minute clinic is reserved for personal casting instruction for our wounded warrior special guests from Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
